In a world where social media often blurs the lines of authenticity, finding someone who genuinely lives as they appear has become a rare treasure. İrem Tanman is one of those uncut gems—a true embodiment of elegance, simplicity, and creativity. Her Instagram is more than just a feed; it’s an authentic reflection of her personality and everyday life. When our paths first crossed in 2013, we instantly clicked, and my admiration for her refined style has only grown. İrem effortlessly inspires those around her, and being friends with someone who is both a muse and a girl crush is truly priceless. Recently, we sat down with İrem to discuss her daily routines, where her impeccable taste and calm, balanced nature truly shine.

What does self-care mean to you?

To me, self-care is all about the small things that make a big difference. It’s not about striving for perfection but finding what makes me feel good, inside and out. Simple habits like staying active, drinking plenty of water, and carving out time for myself keep me grounded.

What are your go-to feel-good rituals?

I love treating myself to massages, visiting the hammam, listening to my favorite music by candlelight at home, and practicing yoga.

What are your must-have bathroom essentials?

I have a collection of natural oils that I can’t live without, from organic aromatherapy blends to cold-pressed oils that I use after a bath and throughout the day. There’s something magical about the essence of plants—they’re packed with botanical wisdom, and their scents are absolutely captivating.

Which self-care spots in Istanbul have left the biggest impression on you?

Kılıç Ali Paşa Hammam and the newly opened Zeyrek Çinili Hammam are at the top of my list. I also love experimenting with different types of massages when I travel.

You have a minimal style that perfectly complements your natural beauty. What are your favorite makeup products?

I’m all about multifunctional products that work as blush and lipstick. They’re perfect for tossing into my small bags! My favorites are Olio e Osso Balm and Byredo Color Stick in Flower Play. Sometimes, I keep it simple with Pixi On-the-Glow, a clear stick that keeps my skin hydrated.

You embrace a minimal lifestyle, owning only a few meaningful items. How does this choice impact your overall well-being?

I don’t like holding onto things that don’t serve a purpose in my life. But if I stumble upon a piece crafted by an artisan or artist that resonates with me, I’ll get it. To me, home is where I balance the chaos of everyday life, reflect inward, and seek peace. Having fewer things and keeping the space calm with neutral tones supports that feeling of lightness and well-being.

Is there a bold look you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t, maybe thinking it wouldn’t suit your style?

I’ve toyed with the idea of dyeing my hair platinum blonde. Who knows, maybe I’ll try it one day!

What does your nutrition routine look like? What do you prioritize, and where do you give yourself some freedom?

Over the years, I’ve learned what works for me by tuning into how my body feels. Of course, I have moments where things go off track, but I think that’s normal. Enjoying delicious food is one of life’s greatest pleasures for me!When I travel, for example, discovering local, unique, and tasty dishes is hands down the best part of the experience—and of life in general. There’s a clear link between food and mood; finding that balance is key to feeling my best.

I love hitting up organic markets, and I always read labels when I shop. I focus on clean, healthy, seasonal, and veggie-based foods. I keep at least four hours between meals and avoid eating late at night. Hydration has also become a big priority—I’m more mindful than ever about drinking enough water because it has many benefits, from joint health to flexibility. I avoid coffee on an empty stomach, and starting my day with protein helps me maintain steady blood sugar levels throughout the day.

Do you have a morning routine?

While routines are crucial for health, I’m not too rigid with mine. When I wake up, I do whatever I feel like or need at that moment. Sometimes, it’s breathwork, yoga, or meditation, and other times, I’ll put on some music and make breakfast. After dry brushing or a warm shower, I love massaging my skin with organic cold-pressed oils. Some mornings, I go for Ayurvedic rituals like sipping warm water to start the day.

Who inspires you with their style or beauty choices?

All of my friends who stay true to their natural selves.

We’ve been friends since our early twenties and are now in our thirties. We often talk about how we’ve evolved naturally. What are your thoughts on the passage of time?

Looking back, I realize we haven’t changed that much. The difference is we know ourselves better now, so we make more intentional and mindful choices, which feels great. Exploring what nourishes our soul, body, and mind—and constantly discovering new things—is incredibly exciting.

You’ve recently added Yin Yoga to your routine. What drew you to this journey, and what mental or physical effects have you noticed?

I’ve been practicing yoga for years, but about eight months ago, I decided to take it to the next level and started training, eventually becoming a Yin Yoga instructor. Funny enough, teaching wasn’t originally on my radar. We live in a world that pushes us to always be on the move, but Yin Yoga is the opposite—it invites us to slow down and look inward, helping us connect with deeper tissues like the fascia. The mental and physical effects are tough to summarize in just one sentence. The awareness I’ve gained over time has made room for even more growth. I truly believe that change is at its best when it happens gradually and naturally.

What would it be like if you had the chance to create a beauty or wellness product or brand?

I’d love to create a retreat that’s all about making people feel amazing. Picture a mountain-top oasis, with every corner designed to fill you with joy and relaxation.

Your photoshoots create captivating worlds, and your dinner tables for loved ones are always ethereally sublime and inspiring. How do you approach setting the perfect table?

When I have great ingredients or pieces, I love turning them into a celebration with friends. The table setting just falls into place naturally. A few ceramic plates by Ayşe Tanman and Astier de Villatte, some delicate glassware, and a few silver serving pieces are all I need.

Did your parents or elders pass you any beauty or wellness secrets?

I grew up with a very athletic father. I’ve always admired his balanced lifestyle and discipline. Thankfully, I never felt pressured by them. We all have our journey. I’m a bit more laid-back, but having such a positive role model around was definitely inspiring. My mom also values staying true to yourself and embracing your originality.

What’s your favorite flaw?

My sometimes wild eyebrows and the freckles that take over my face every summer!

My freckles and rebellious brows.
