There’s definitely no shortage of facial studios in Istanbul. The city is filled with treatment centers; however, a few are good enough to recommend to friends and make the Wonderflaw cut. Nestled in a very central location, DNage is one that deserves a mention. On the second floor of an Abdi İpekçi apartment, known to be one of the chicest areas in town, this beauty destination might seem like just another one at first glance. But the magic lies in the impeccable experience, the friendliness of the staff and owner (Gülhan Güleryüz), and the contents of the menu. It’s rare to find a good beauty studio that offers—or does—a golden standard face massage (called “Manual Buccal” on the menu), and DNage nails this with confidence, skill, and expertise. Mainly because the aestheticians here have been trained by globally renowned sculpting face massage master Yakov Gershkovich.

The lifting buccal face massage at DNage lasts about an hour, delivering instant rejuvenation, lymphatic drainage, and is especially relaxing for those of us with a clenched jaw. Minor breakouts are expected after the treatment, as lymphatic drainage is known to have a detoxifying effect, but it’s nothing that can’t be overcome with some salicylic acid toner. From my experience, the sculpting effects become more visible in the days that follow—and even more so after consecutive sessions. If you’re into a more natural approach rather than injectables, the results will be satisfactory.

Wondertip: During the face massage, don’t hesitate to ask for extra care if you have a tight neck, shoulders, or jaw. If you have acne-prone skin, ask for a cleanser after the session to help prevent any possible breakouts.
