Chemical Filter

Chemical filter is a type of sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens protect the skin by absorbing UV rays at a cellular level and typically become effective about 30 minutes after application. If a sunscreen’s packaging doesn’t mention ‘mineral’ or ‘physical,’ it likely contains chemical filters. Common chemical filters include avobenzone, oxybenzone, octocrylene, PABA, Tinosorb S/M, Mexoryl SX/XL, and the Uvinul family.
